AES - FACIAL FAT REDUCTION

Facial Fat Reduction

Excessive facial fat around the jawline, known as jowls, can be quite disturbing. Jowls occur when the underlying fat is hypertrophied while the midface fat is sunken. This combination results in sagging of the skin around the jawline. Though Treatments such as Dermal Fillers and Threads can help to minimize the jowls, the ideal approach should be to dissolve the fat around the jawline, before considering Dermal Fillers or Threads.

TREATMENT OUTCOME

Facial fat or localized fatty tissue can be reduced by either using Cryolipolysis or injecting fat dissolving agents.

Cryolipolysis, commonly referred to as fat freezing, is a nonsurgical fat reduction procedure that uses cold temperature to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of the body. The procedure is designed to reduce localized fat deposits or bulges that do not respond to diet and exercise. US FDA has approved Cryolipolysis to treat fat deposits beneath the chin, upper arms, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, hip/flank (“love handles”), upper back (“brassiere rolls”), lower back, and underneath the buttocks. The technique is based on the finding that fat cells are more susceptible to damage from cold temperatures than other cells, such as skin cells. The cold temperature breaks the fat cells and the dead fat cells are removed from the body by macrophages.

In lipolysis injections, tiny amounts of fat dissolving substances are injected into the jowls. The amount and frequency will depend on the size of the jowl. After few injections, the jowls will be reduced in size. Once there is significant reduction, we will use Dermal Fillers or Threads to enhance the jawline. The amount of Dermal Filler or Thread (either one) will depend on the degree of jawline definition.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Cryolipolysis is recommended only for people who are in good general health with no neurologic or orthopaedic problems and who are looking for “spot” fat reduction in specific areas on the body. There is a risk that the skin surface may be irregular/not smooth after healing.

As for the lipolytic injection procedure, there are risks of bleeding or bruising. Some clients may be allergic to the fat dissolving drugs, Fortunately, these side effects are temporary and will recover completely.

COST

The cost for facial fat reduction ranges from RM 600 onwards per Treatment, depending on the type of procedure and the amount of Lipolytic agents, Fillers or Threads used.
